A toilet that gurgles or bubbles — especially when you run the washer or another drain — is rarely random. It's air escaping where it shouldn't, and it often points to a main-line issue.
Gurgling happens when a blockage or venting problem forces air back up through the toilet instead of letting it flow out normally. If your toilet bubbles when another fixture drains, waste is struggling to get past a partial clog downstream.
A gurgle today is often a full backup next week. Catching it now — with a drain cleaning or a quick scope — is far cheaper and cleaner than waiting for the line to stop completely.
