When a technician needs to clear or scope your main line, the fastest route in is the cleanout — a capped pipe that opens directly into your sewer. Knowing where yours is saves time and money.
A cleanout is usually a 3- or 4-inch pipe with a threaded or push-on cap. Indoors, look in the basement or crawlspace near where the main line exits the foundation. Outdoors, check near the foundation, along the likely path to the street, or in the front lawn.
Many older New Jersey homes don't have a modern cleanout — they have a house trap, a U-shaped fitting (often with two caps) set into the basement floor near the front wall. We can work through either, and we'll locate yours if you're not sure.
Don't worry — finding and accessing the cleanout or trap is part of our service. If there's no usable access at all, we can install a proper cleanout to make future maintenance far easier.
