If your older New Jersey home has chronic slow drains and original cast-iron pipe, you may not need to rip it all out. Descaling can bring a scaled line back to life.
Over 50–80 years, cast iron corrodes internally, building rust nodules and a crust of scale that can shrink a 4-inch pipe to the diameter of a garden hose. That's why old homes get slower and slower drains that no amount of snaking fully fixes.
Specialized chain knockers and descaling heads grind the buildup off the pipe wall, restoring it close to full diameter. We camera the line before and after so you can see the difference.
If the pipe is scaled but still structurally sound — not perforated or collapsed — descaling can save thousands versus replacement, and it preps the pipe perfectly if you later choose to line it.
